Pasternak Wine Imports was our guest last week on #winechat. They import wines from France, Spain, Italy, Australia, New Zealand, Argentina, Chile & California
We chose to chat about the white Burgundy Cave de Lugny Les Charmes. Cave de Lugny is a cooperative of over 250 wine-growing estates and 1,500 hectares in AOC Burgundy- Mâconnais.
This unoaked Chardonnay is made from a single vineyard named Les Charms in the Lugny commune. The vines are generally around 40 years old and the soil is predominantly very chalky limestone.
Cave de Lugny produces 6 million bottles per year. The Les Charmes Chardonnay was deemed by the participants to have a nice richness, bright with a lively acidity on the finish. As it opened up, melon and lemon/citrus notes became more pronounced.
Food pairings? Folks thought it would go well with seafood such as crab ravioli, or mussels in a rich butter, lemon, garlic, & herb sauce as well as roasted turkey and lemon garlic chicken. Mmmm …. yummy.
Drink this one right away; at around $12, it’s quite a bargain!
